The OR Deal Mission Statement

The mission statement of The OR Deal is to improve Oregon's addiction to muni-bond creative financing. This is something that this state has been doing for the past couple of decades to finance the activities of local city governments, vital public service programs and other non-profits organizations. To achieve this, The OR Deal:

  • Provides the revenue generated from a profitable business to be used to pay down debts for local city governments, vital public services programs and other non-profits.
  • Sets high professional standards for the management for the organizations requesting our services.
  • To get this program up and operating, it will NOT cost the organizations it will be assisting a wooden nickle.
  • Provides a broad range of giving opportunities to meet these obligations.
  • Assesses conditions throughout their programs and responds with leadership to improve these conditions.
  • Assists and cooperates with others in the effective application of charitable resources.
  • Our goal is to start out small and work out all of the kinks. Then based upon our success and even failures, we can make the appropriate adjustments. Once all of these have been worked out, then we can grow in size and effectiveness.
  • If nothing is done, the Long-term debt of the City of Portland will just continue to grow in size. This is not only thanks to our addiction to the use of muni-bonds to pay our bills, but also to the magic of compounding interest rates.

Something in which the state of California is already experiencing this with a $16 billion dollar debt. The staff at The OR Deal is assuming this is the result of their addiction to the powerful muni-bonds. Even forcing a city near the bay into bankruptcy. Forcing their governator to force massive layoffs to try and fix it.
